A cold moon supermoon will light up the sky on December 9, marking the final supermoon of the year.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Skies will be generally fair for the bigger and brighter moon tonight. This supermoon is the third in a row and is expected to be 30% brighter and 14% bigger as a result of it being closest in its orbit around the earth.

We can expect to see those skies stay clear on Friday with another warm day on tap. Highs will warm into the low to mid 80s af few miles away from the Gulf. Right on the beach it will warm into the mid to upper 70s.

Saturday we will see a few more clouds but still it should be mostly sunny to partly cloudy throughout the day. We have only a 30% chance for a few passing showers now and again through the day.

Sunday clouds begin to move in as a cold front finally gets nudge from a low pressure system developing over SE Georgia. This front will be slow in getting here so don’t expect a lot of rain through the 1st half of the day. Rain chances going up late in the day on Sunday and through early Monday morning.

It is a First Alert Weather day late Sunday through early Monday. This FAWD or First Alert Weather Day is a green one meaning not too disruptive of a day or night expected.

Monday the skies begin to clear and we cool down for a couple of days through Tuesday of next week.

For boaters look for winds out of the south at 10 to 15 knots on Friday with seas running around 2 feet with a moderate chop on the waters.
